OOC INFO
BIRTHDAY: September 7th EXPERIENCE: I have played a lot of tabletop roleplay, such as DnD, Call of Cthulu, Marvel Universe. After the release of Deathly Hallows I started up a next gen RP on LJ 'here' which, due to RL issues at the time, didn't get off the ground. I am nixchan both here at IJ and over on LJ, and as you can see from the hprp_nextgen character list I was playing Harry over there - which is why I am jumping on the chance to play him somewhere else. MOTHER: Lily Potter FATHER: James Potter
SIBLINGS: None EXTENDED FAMILY: None (as Harry's parents survived there has been no need for the Potters to contact the Dursleys)
FRIENDS: Harry likes to surround himself with people that will take chances and are proactive. He can't abide people who dilly-dally and fret. He values loyalty, but can be fickle himself. It is easy to fall out of favour with him, but those with whom he is close know this and bear with him. He needs people around him who are patient and understand him, though he doesn't realise this himself.

Politics
LOYALTY/ALLIANCE: Order of the Phoenix
ROLE IN THE WAR: Stupid bravery. Harry is reckless, he has not had the experiences that tempered his hot-headedness in the books. No scheme of his has ever gone really wrong. There has been no life-threatening experiences. So Harry will be the one to face any odds. He is also very good for morale, and will never give up without a fight. Being the child of James and Lily Potter he is also an excellent wizard, though anything that requires any lengthy study he does fall down on. Most of his skills lie in magic that is intuitive.
POLITICAL VIEWS: Having grown up around Remus Lupin Harry believes that 'half-breeds' and such are treated appallingly and does not see why there is so much prejudice towards them. He also couldn't care less if you are Muggleborn, half-blood, pure-blood - a wizard is a wizard, whatever their background. He does, however, have an unconscious prejudice towards Muggles having not met many. He isn't actively discriminatory or cruel; it's not that he doesn't think of them as people, he just doesn't really think of them at all. He believes that the secrecy that surrounds the Wizarding World should remain - it would not be safe to mix the two worlds.
Appearance
APPEARANCE: Bright green eyes, messy black hair that he sometimes intentionally messes up further (he picked this habit up off his dad). Having grown up with his actual parents Harry isn't as underweight as in the books, though he is still on the small and light side for a boy of his age, both of which contribute to his ability as a seeker. When not in school uniform he lives in jeans and trainers, and usually his Falmouth Falcons jumper.
Personality
WAND: 10 inches, holly, unicorn hair, nice and supple (There is no link between the phoenix feathers in this continuity and it is Draco's unicorn hair core that reacts best to Harry in DH) BOGGART: Himself loosing his mind. PATRONUS: Huge Dog (though I don't know whether he will have produced a Patronus yet - given that the events of PoA haven't happened.) Explanation - Harry has an uneasy relationship with James - they are too alike - and often finds Sirius to be the father figure he turns to.
LIKES: The Falmouth Falcons - Harry has always been a huge Quidditch fan and the fact that he supports the Chudley Cannons local rival has produced 'friendly' rivalry between him and Ron. Playing Quidditch - James got Harry onto a broomstick as soon as he could walk. Living locally to the Weasleys the two families often got together for impromptu matches. Charlie was especially interested in teaching Harry to play as Percy never really showed much interest, Fred and George obviously had beater builds and Ron didn't have much talent. It was a familiar sight on summer evenings to see Harry and Charlie racing each other up and down the fields next to the Burrow.
DISLIKES: School work - especially anything written. His father (sometimes)
STRENGTHS: As mentioned above he is reckless and impulsive. Nothing has really happened in his life to teach him to fully think through his actions - this could be counted as both a strength and a weakness. He gets things done and would rather be taking action than sitting around making decisions. Harry is an upbeat person - it takes a lot to bring him down. He is genuinely a well-meaning person.
WEAKNESSES: He can have a tendency to sulk. He also can make snap judgements about people, which can be amended, but only through the actions of the other person.
DETAILED PERSONALITY:
((This will be a summary of what has been written above, plus some bits and pieces.))
Harry will always jump in to the deep end, without looking before he leaps. But he always owns his decisions and he never passes the buck. He will always own up when he realises he's in the wrong, and because of this it is often difficult to stay mad at him. He is always looking for things to occupy his time, he is never content doing any one thing for an extended period, unless it is Quidditch practice. He gets on very well with Fred and George, and is often their cat's paw - they sometimes use his reckless nature to achieve their own ends. Harry makes friends very quickly and will talk to anyone, he gives most people a chance at the outset. However he also falls out with people just as quickly, and those who take offence can become lifelong enemies. His true friends though just put with him until he sees the mistakes he's made. This is also true when it comes to romance - he falls in 'love' very hard and will swoon for days and can fall out again just as quickly. Everything is on or off, black or white. He can't stand people that dither and fret and will always be the one throwing ideas around, whether they are good, or even sensible, or not.
History
CHILDHOOD: Born in Godric's Hollow Harry had a perfectly normal wizarding childhood. From an early age he spent a lot of time with the Weasley family with Molly taking care of Harry when Lily returned to work after his birth. He made fast friends with Ron and Charlie from the get-go.
Harry and Ron attended a wizarding prep/primary school in Ottery St. Catchpole from the ages of 5 until 11. ((Okay, I know you already have a Ron so I am loathed to write too much about their relationship until I spoken to that person, but I see their relationship as being very similar to that in the books, just with a little more history))
He has an uneasy relationship with his father, with them being so alike, with Quidditch the only place they really see eye to eye. Sirius was a major figure in Harry's childhood, and was much like the cool uncle. Harry would do anything for his mother and tells her everything.
HOGWARTS. Harry arrived at Hogwarts with a built in friend in Ron. The Sorting Hat still vacillated over the Slytherin/Gryffindor choice, much to Harry's disgust. He has never mentioned this to anyone. He tried out for Gryffindor seeker in the first year and failed to get in. He made it in his second year. His best academic lesson is DADA, where the work is more practical and hands-on. Dislikes History of Magic with a passion. He can a be a very disruptive student if he isn't engaging with the work in class, and sometimes has to be sent out of classes.
((Harry's relationship with Hermione is unclear at this point - as with Ron, I'd need to talk to the person playing her))
He is a natural charmer, with plenty of confidence (having grown up the child of celebrities). He has the ability to make anyone he talks to feel like they are the most important person in the world. He doesn't see either Ginny or Hermione ((dependant on his relationship with her)) as girls in any romantic sense. He seems to have more female than male friends.
When there are no lessons on Harry is not one to read a book by the fire in the common room - he always has to find something to do. The Marauder's Map was given to him by Fred and George when he couldn't go to Hogsmeade due to too many late homeworks. He found his father's invisibility cloak in the attic in Godric's Hallow and took it - James knows that he has it and hasn't said anything. It is usually Ron that gets roped into these schemes. Harry most definitely isn't headed for Prefect status.
POST-HOGWARTS (if they've graduated). n/a

JOURNAL ENTRY: I got it, I got it, I got it. I played my ass off and I got it! I am, from this afternoon, Gryffindor's new SEEKER! Yes, finally! I've already sent owls to Mum and Dad, to Sirius and to Charlie.
Man, it has taken bloody long enough. I was sure I was going to get it last year - I mean I've had some of the best training, and I've been playing since I was three, well sort of. I honestly thought that I was the best last year, I guess they didn't want to give it to a snotty nosed first year, and it was Bernie's last year and she is the tiniest person I have ever seen (I'm sure I heard somewhere that she has goblin blood in her, which'd be weird if it were true) so I can see why she got it, but still... That doesn't matter now cause I've got the place. Wasn't that much competition, not really. Oh yes! I am so utterly chuffed.
RP SAMPLE: The loose stone skittered its way across the floor. Harry had spent the last five minutes digging it out of the floor with his toe. There was little else to do, standing in the corridor outside the Transfiguration classroom. All the paintings were absent, asleep or ignoring him and he had nothing with him except his wand, and it wasn't worth loosing his skin to mess around with that. He didn't see why turning Parvati's nose into a flower was worth sending him out of the class for, she thought it was funny - eventually, but Professor McGonagal apparently didn't agree. Harry thought that turning noses into flowers was much more interesting than turning beetles into buttons, and more difficult. It had also broken up what had been a thoroughly dull class. But teachers never see it that way. So here he was standing, bored outside the classroom with nothing to do.
